What makes you most proud of our Auditors at BDO, and how are we helping them build the skills needed for the future?
I am most proud of the professionalism, integrity and commitment our auditors demonstrate every day. Beyond delivering high-quality audits, they work together to support clients, mentor colleagues and contribute positively to the communities we serve.
The attached photos from our community service activities and sports events reflect an aspect of our culture that I value deeply. They show that being an auditor is not only about technical excellence, but also about teamwork, resilience, collaboration and making a meaningful impact beyond the workplace.
As the profession continues to evolve, we invest significantly in the development of our people. Through continuous technical training, leadership programmes, digital and data analytics capabilities, and emerging areas such as sustainability, we help our auditors build the skills needed for the future while remaining grounded in the professional values that define our profession.
Integrity is at the heart of everything auditors do. What unique role do auditors play in creating confidence for businesses, investors and society?
Auditors play a unique role as independent professionals who help build confidence in the reliability of information used by businesses, investors, regulators and other stakeholders.
Through professional scepticism, objective judgement and adherence to high ethical standards, auditors strengthen accountability and transparency. Their work supports well-informed decision-making and helps organisations earn and maintain trust with stakeholders.
In an increasingly complex business environment, confidence remains one of the most valuable assets an organisation can have, and high-quality auditing plays an important role in sustaining that confidence.
How is innovation changing the way we audit, and why will human insight remain just as important as technology?
Innovation is transforming the way audits are performed by enabling auditors to analyse larger volumes of data, identify risks more effectively and gain deeper insights into business operations.
Technologies such as data analytics, automation and AI are enhancing audit quality and improving efficiency by allowing auditors to focus more time on areas that require critical evaluation and deeper understanding.
However, technology cannot replace professional judgement, ethical decision-making or the ability to challenge assumptions. The future of audit will continue to rely on the combination of advanced technology and the human qualities that define great auditors: integrity, scepticism, experience and sound judgement.
