In 2022, led by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), multiple credit reference agency (MCRA) model is being implemented to enhance financial infrastructure. 

Money lenders are required to apply for the MCRA membership in order to continue using the credit checking-related facilities. In this connection, money lenders shall submit an application form together with an interim independent assessment report for HKMA’s vetting purposes. Once approval is obtained, a final independent assessment report will need to be submitted for HKMA’s evaluation. 

In this seminar, BDO will share our insights from an independent assessor’s perspective through some pilot cases of the independent assessment, challenges identified and what money lenders shall pay attention to and how to overcome them.
