Board of directors has the primary responsibilities to exercise due care when making their decisions and to ensure that effective mechanism of corporate governance is in place to safeguard the interest of investors as well as stakeholders.

With the heightened legal and regulatory requirements, emerging issues from evolving business environment, increasing expectations from investors and stakeholders, organisations are taking on additional risks in running their businesses.

By playing a vital role in risk management oversight and improving the credibility and effectiveness of governance practices, independent non-executive directors (INEDs) need to keep abreast of the latest development in the trends of enforcement actions, emerging issues and governance best practices. To this end, BDO is pleased to present our INED Forum in meeting their needs.

The INED Forum will be held in two consecutive half days on 12 and 13 July 2022 in virtual format on the following topics:

Speakers

ANGEL WONG, Partner, ONC Lawyers

Angel Wong has experience in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including pre-IPO restructuring and financing, IPO, secondary fundraising, overseas listings, mergers and acquisitions, loan and financing transactions, resumption of trading, licensing and registration under the Securities and Futures Ordinance, corporate governance and general compliance for listed companies as well as private enterprises.


RICKY CHENG, Director and Head of Risk Advisory, BDO

Ricky specialises in assisting clients in managing their internal audit function and meeting corporate governance requirements in both China and Hong Kong.

Ricky has 20 years of risk and assurance experience. He worked for large international accounting firms and had commercial internal audit experience. His expertise covers various services such as Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance, risk management assessment, compliance assistance, corporate governance compliance review, internal audit assistance, business process review, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) readiness and reporting support services review, stored value facilities (SVF) licence independent assessment review, etc. 

The portfolio of clients managed by Ricky comes from various industries including transportation, property development and construction, gaming and entertainment, hospitality, manufacturing, gold and minerals mining, fast moving consumer goods, retailing and department chain stores, financial institutions such as brokerage houses and derivative products companies.

VIVIAN CHOW, Principal of Risk Advisory, BDO

Vivian is an experienced professional drawing upon a background that includes corporate governance, regulatory and compliance, consulting, and audit and financial reporting in Hong Kong, China and the United States.

Vivian has worked with a diverse group of clients from non-governmental organisations to multinational public and private companies across several industries in providing corporate governance, risk management, internal audit, and regulatory and compliance review and readiness.


POKIT LOK, Principal of Risk Advisory, BDO

Pokit possesses over 20 years of extensive experience in IT Audit & Risk Advisory and Enterprise Applications (eg RPA, S&OP, PLM, CRM and ERP) Implementation gained in sizable organisations and business technology consultancy firms. He specialises in providing IT related advisory services including IT Governance, IT General Controls & IT Application Controls and business process re-engineering for various types of clients. In professional area, he has been a CRISC RM SME Reviewer of ISACA and a public course instructor of Hong Kong Productivity Council and Vocational Training Council. 

Currently, he provides the consultancy services, such as:  ITGC / ITAC review, System Risk Assessment and Audit, Information Security Management Assessment (based on ISO27001, C-RAF and etc), Privacy Impact Assessment, IT system Vulnerability Scan, Advisory on IT Governance, Policies and Procedures, Advisory on Data Management and Analysis and Advisory on Digital Transformation.


IVAN SO, Manager of Risk Advisory, BDO

Ivan has over 8 years of experience in providing assurance and advisory services, including financial audits, risk assessment, pre-IPO and SPAC internal control reviews, corporate governance reviews and regulatory compliance reviews, to financial services and non-financial services clients.

His clientele covers different sectors including banking, money service operator (MSO), stored value facility (SVF), securities dealing and advisory, asset management, investment property, trading and manufacturing in Hong Kong, the PRC and overseas.

Ivan has an in-depth understanding of audit and internal control best practices and serves as the engagement manager for his financial and non-financial services, listed and other non-listed clients.


BILL TSANG, Senior Manager of Risk Advisory, BDO

Bill is a passionate sustainability practitioner with good understanding in industrial best practices and standards in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) management.  Bill has over 15 years experience in supporting business in managing their ESG risk, particularly on the topics of climate change, greenhouse gas (GHG) disclosure, clean energy, waste / water / chemical management and labour practice. His clients come from various sectors including energy, oil & gas, petrochem, semiconductors, infrastructure, manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods, financial institutions and the Hong Kong Government.

Bill supports clients in formulating sustainability strategies, policies, KPIs, establishing management systems, action plans and their monitoring, auditing and continual improvement in Hong Kong, China and Southeast Asia.  Prior to joining BDO, Bill has worked in the environmental department of a leading energy asset investment company and in an international sustainability consultancy.
