BDO WEBINAR: DIGITAL ASSET (CRYPTOCURRENCIES, STO AND NFT) LANDSCAPE AND ITS ACCOUNTING IMPLICATIONS TO BUSINESSES

23 三月 2022 - 24 三月 2022

2021 was a wild year for crypto. Fuelled by the economic effects of Covid-19 pandemic, a growing number of publicly traded corporations started to include Bitcoin in their balance sheets.  While Bitcoin's pricing witnessed high volatility, the blockchain decentralised applications (dApps) development have taken off and quickly become the backbone of Web 3.0. Whether the buzzword is an actual dream comes true, the idea of decentralised data has gained tremendous momentum that businesses are getting ready to adapt.

The aspiration of web 3.0 also gives hope to the Metaverse utopia where one lives virtually beyond imagination. To name a few applications to business finance:

  • Security Token Offering (STO) which has gained endorsement across jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, US and UK, to be governed by existing securities regulations.
  • The emergence of Non-Fungible Token (NFT) allows purchase of digital assets with indisputable ownership.

All of these were made possible by blockchain distributed ledger technology. So what does this all mean to us as a business?

In this webinar, we will explore on the above and cover the following:

  • Landscape of Digital Assets (ie Cryptocurrencies, STO and NFT)
  • The potential accounting implications of digital assets
  • The cloud way of digital assets tracking
