(Fully booked) BDO webinar: The evolving role of internal auditor in the public sector

Date: 28 September 2020
Time: 15:30 - 16:30

  • Summary

Internal audit is the cornerstone of effective public sector governance. By providing unbiased and objective assessments of whether public resources are managed responsibly and economically to achieve intended results, internal auditors have the role to help public sector organisations to achieve accountability and integrity, improve operations, and instil confidence among citizens and stakeholders.

The pressure to drive a positive risk management culture and implement robust controls for public sector internal auditors is especially intensified in the current pandemic as the public sector ramps up services to safeguard the wellbeing of the people and the economy. The evolving landscape restructured by the crisis and disruptions in this challenging time forces internal auditors in public sectors to have a more focused approach to respond quickly to key risks, and strengthen trust and reputation.

In this webinar, we will examine the role of internal audit in driving a positive governance and risk management culture in the public sector, including the government, quasi-government, as well as the non-governmental organisations and entities. We will also explore the current trends impacting public sector organisations and how internal audit can help build on its core and support activities to strengthen governance and control processes that form the cornerstone for organisational resilience and success.
