(Fully booked) BDO Webinar: Overview of differences of employment related legislations between Hong Kong and Macau SARs

Date: 16 September 2020
Time: 15:00 - 16:30

  • Summary

Both Hong Kong and Macau became the special administrative regions (SARs) of the People's Republic of China since 1 July 1997 and 20 December 1999 respectively, operating under the 'one country, two systems' policy of China, both Hong Kong and Macau SARs would enjoy a 'high degree of autonomy' in all matters except foreign and defence affairs for the subsequent 50 years.

There are lots of similarities between Hong Kong and Macau SARs in respect of their colonial background but there are huge differences between both SARs with regards to their legal systems, monetary systems, languages, economy, land area and population, and even governments. These differences have impacted investors' business strategies on making investments in Hong Kong and Macau.

In the past decade, Macau has attracted certain multinational corporations invested in gaming industry and Macau has been successfully transformed into the largest casino hub in the world. In recent years, Macau has also developed its non-gaming industries like tourism, entertainment, hospitality and cultural & creativity sectors. Investors who are considering making new investments in Hong Kong and Macau should know about the above-mentioned differences of systems between both SARs, in particular, the latest tax and employment related legislations of both cities.

In this webinar, the speaker will discuss:
