Thanks to the overwhelming support of our staff and directors, we raised a total of HK$65,000 for the Sichuan earthquake. Our firm matched the donation and topped up to HK$130,000.
This fund was donated to the HKICPA Charitable Fund. The Institute also matched donations received up to a maximum of HK$300,000. Amounts raised via HKICPA, totalled HK$2.1 million, up to the end of May. An initial HK$1.5 million was donated to Red Cross to support relief works for the quake.
People in the affected areas are still facing the threats of aftershocks, diseases and flooding. Thousands of people are still homeless. Many of the wounded victims are confined in temporary hospitals. The generous donations will definitely provide vital contributions to the relief and rehabilitation works for the victims and their families.
