Albert Au has been appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR to serve on the General Committee of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) for a term of 2 years beginning on July 4, 2007. The FHKI is a statutory body established since 1960 to promote the interests of Hong Kong's industrial and business communities: to promote trade, investment, technological advancement, manpower development, and business opportunities in Hong Kong and to represent the business community's views and advise the government on policies and legislation which affect business. The General Committee is the Federation's policy-making and management authority and comprises: The chairmen of each of 27 industrial councils and groups in Hong Kong 3 members appointed by the HKSAR Government 5 members appointed by the outgoing General Committee 5 members co-opted by the incoming General Committee In addition to Mr. Au, the other 2 Chief Executive's appointees are the Deputy General Manager & Head of Investment & Insurance, Hang Seng Bank and the deputy Director-General, Trade & Industry Department.
